In Tennessee, the government has approved the sale of online sports betting. The state’s Education Lottery Corporation, or TELC, oversees and regulates the sport’s wagering market. The state was one of the first to approve the sale of online sports betting in the country. A sports wagering website must use official league data in order to be considered legal. In addition, Tennessee sportsbooks must retain 10 percent of bets, a higher percentage than the typical 7.5% hold in other jurisdictions.
